I had no idea because, well, I’ve never had a stock airbox on an RD of mine! Hahaha!
I don’t have time today to cut em off, so first thing in the morning… ZIIIIIP!

I am almost done de-tabbing, but have a couplea things I have to figure out.
I can’t for the life of me remember what the “hooks” are for. And do I need the parts with the “o”? I am going to use the stock battery box, so I need the longer openings, but not sure about the rest:

This piece has been giving me trouble. You can see I tried to cut it off, but ran out of space. It’s very thick, so the dremel is no help. I cut it angled, so at least the shape now matches the line of the frame, but I’d rather it be gone.

Otherwise, it’s looking purty good, if I do say so myself.

I am enjoying the cutting and grinding a little too much….
Making sparks fly and the sound of metal filing down to the growl of the Makita makes me feel inordinately peaceful inside.
This morning I took the cutting wheel off and replaced it with a grinder. What fun!

Yes, I’m wearing safety goggles over my glasses. Sexy.
I was able to smooth down the rough cuts pretty good.

I had fun with this one. It was a rather large weld that was being resistant to being ground down. I finally broke its will and broke the whole damn thing off. You can see just a little tab that I pulled off with some pliers, then smoothed out.

I will leave you tonight with this:
